302 Family > Business – Why I’m taking a Break

By Leslie Samuel

A lot has changed over the last week and a half. In this mini-episode, I share those things. I also explain why I'm taking a break from most of my business.

Thank you for your understanding.

  • Leslie, I will be praying for you and your family, especially your mom. What a blessing that you are able to go be with her. The Lord was paving the way for this before you even knew it. He will bless you because you are putting your family first. Go be with them, love on your mom, and spend time with her and your family. We’ll be here when you get back. Know that I will be praying for you!

  • Thank you for Sharing Leslie. This is powerful. I wish your mom all the best possible. For sure family is first and I appreciate your decision.

God has you all in his hands and I know you are a man of Faith.

    Blessings,

    Ida Butler

  • Leslie, I’ll be praying for your mom and your family. We are going through a very similar situation with my husband’s dad, so I can understand somewhat. I’m glad you’re taking time for your family, and I’ll pray that your time will be blessed.

  • Hi Leslie, please stay strong. My prayers are with you and your family (especially your mom) during this difficult time.

  • I’ll start praying. May the Holy Spirit give you the strength and inspiration you require at this point in your life. Blessings for all.

  • Godspeed on your journey! May your mom know God’s peaceful presence during these difficult days. Be safe and make some great memories! We’ll look forward to your return!

  • Hi, Leslie, prayers of strength for you and your family. Also prayers of healing for your mother. God bless.

  • Leslie, I wish you and your family love and strength and you support your mom. Yes, just go do what you need to keep her comfortable and happy. Be with family. Words on paper will always be available. Take care.

  • Sorry to hear about your mom. Your honesty is refreshing. I pray your mom’s liver cancer and her whole body is healed in Jesus’ name.

Isaiah 53:5-But He was wounded for our transgressions,
    He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.

1 Peter 2:24-who His own self bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness; by whose stripes ye were healed.

  • Leslie,
I just started following you, so I barely know you, but I’m so grieved for you and your family. My mother had cancer 3 times and it finally took her. Even so, I can’t imagine what you’re going through. I’ll be praying for you and your mother specifically every morning at 5:00 am CST until I hear from you again. Blessings to you.

  • Leslie you’ve always been there for a lot of us to be the best can in what we do. It my prayers that God intervens and be there for your family and specially your mom. Stay blessed.

  • Leslie, I am so sorry you and your family are going through this right now. Please know I have you in my thoughts and definitely in my prayers as you walk this journey with your mom. I admire you for putting your Mom first. She is blessed to have you as a son who will come and be with her during this challenging time. I got to do that for my Mom, and I will never, ever regret the special time I had with her. I pray for God’s wisdom, His peace, his healing arms wrapped around all of you, for incredible strength, and for lover overflowing from Him and from all of you to each other. Take care, friend. I am here for even the smallest (or the largest) task that will help you keep any part of your business moving along…I mean that! With much love and a huge hug….Nancy Myrland

  • Hey Leslie.

May God give you peace. May your mum have the peace of God in her heart.
Your honesty and transparency is one to be emulated by many.

May God’s reward for your diligence be expressed in His grace, mercy and peace in this season.

  • Leslie,
You are making the absolute right decision. Family does always come first. All of your family and especially your Mom will be in my prayers. We have a God that still does do miracles.

Your warmth and love are what your mom needs most right now and you and your family needs this time to make memories that will last.

I know you don’t want to hear this now. But please save it for when things calm down a bit, and they will. Be aware that anger from your mom is the most effective remedy against cancer. Help her to direct that anger against the cancer, not the family members or medical staff.

As a nurse, if your mom reaches the point she no longer wants to deal with chemo, may I suggest that you look at Herbdoc.com . Dr. Shultz is an herbalist and his remedies are very effective and well worth trying. They are worth the cost.

You have touched my life with your joy of living and I am sure that same joy and love will be a blessing to your mom.

Please don’t try to answer Leslie. Spend that time with your mom.

    Love, Hugs, and Prayers,

  • Leslie, wishing you lots of positive thoughts and my prayers are with you and your family. I’m sorry to hear this news as parents getting ill is never easy. Wishing you strength and love.

  • Leslie, I believe you are absolutely doing the right thing. Family first.

You are a gifted and knowledgeable man and I believe God will guide you to the next steps on your life path. I’ve been on your current path with both my mom and my first wife. That was in the 1990s. Many wonderful things have happened in my life since then. I know it’s hard to look forward at this point, but God’s not done with you. He won’t let your talents go to waste.

I will pray that God’s perfect will will be accomplished for your mom and for you.

    Proverbs 3:5-6

  • Praying for you and your family during this difficult time. God is always good–may this deepen your knowledge and relationship with Him. May His presence, love and blessings be obvious and abundant to you and your family.

The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him. Psalm 28:7

  • I regret that you have to face this difficult situation concerning your Mom. You have made the right decision and my prayer is that the Lord will intervene. Wishing you and family travelling mercies.

  • Dear Leslie,

I hope everything works out the best way possible and I wish you all the very best.
Thank you for all the free content you have been so generous with. It has helped me immensely.
Please keep me on your email list for further down the track.

  • Hi Leslie, this is the first time I listened to your podcast as I joined your list only recently. I’ve been blogging on and off for ten years and haven’t made any money from it. Anyway, your podcast touched my heart. I’m 54, Irish, female and living in India. Last year, my beautiful mother succumbed to brain cancer after a short, final battle with the disease, although she’d won over it twice before. I pray for healing for your mother and strength for your family. Will keep you in my prayers.

  • Hi Leslie.
Our prayers are with you all the way from Australia.
My whole family have had cancers of various types and ALL survived. I just want to say that it is in the Lord’s hands and there is ALWAYS hope.
    Bless you, my friend.

  • I recently put my business on the back burner to help my dad, as he died of lung cancer. Trust me when I tell you this… You will never regret this decision! Prayers for you and your family.

  • You are such a good son. I’m sorry you’re going through this and that your mom is going through this. Take as much time as you need for her and yourself and the rest of your family. I basically took a year off when my husband was diagnosed with colon cancer. It was the only choice for me. Work can wait. Be with your mom. I’ll be praying for you.

  • Leslie, I will keep your mom and your family in my prayers. “The eternal God is your refuge, And underneath are the everlasting arms” (Deuteronomy 33:27).

  • Leslie,

Thanks so much for sharing this. I just recently discovered you and love your podcast. I’m so thankful that you place family above business and will be praying for you, your family and healing for your mom.

  • God bless you and your family. I too have experienced the very same situation. Family first, my brother. Take your time.

  • I am listening for the first time due to the outcome of your family situation. I Just want you to know I knew you mom. We passed each other daily while I attended MPC and she always had a kind and encouraging word, even though
I wasn’t her student directly. I am praying you and your family during this time of transitioning. God is able to see you all through. Be encouraged knowing she is in her Savior’ s arms and you will see her again some day. Blessings to you and your family while on your break.

  • i’m so sad to here that about your mom and i promise you that i’ll pray for here. i’m very sad because i missed you really missed you. but i still follow you till you return again and i will not missed my hoping to see you again. that’s all because i feel from my depth heart that you are my friend.

  • Very smart move indeed … this other stuff will be there. Focus on your Mom, family members and let the rest fall in place. Treasure those memories and savor the new ones you will create from these challenges. Thanks again for your openeness throughout the time I have followed you.

  • Am so sorry for your pain my brother I used to live in ST Maarten and attend Phillipsburg seven Adventist church and I know your Mom and Dad very well my prayers are with you and your family..

  • Leslie you are such a ‘giver’ that even doing your ‘I’m going away’ speech you hesitated in several spots. Dude, it’s okay. You did the right thing and for those of us who are new to you we have 300 episodes to get caught up on. We’ll look forward to your return. God Speed.
