139 How To Turn A Blog Into A Business – with Toni Anderson

By Leslie Samuel

Who: Toni Anderson
Blog: The Happy Housewife

Listen to This Episode

Imagine this . . .

Homeschooling seven kids (yes, I said seven), doing household chores, managing blogs, managing conferences, and speaking at conferences.

All this and more while her spouse is away from home more than at home (she's a military wife).

Today's guest does just that. Seems impossible?

Well, Toni Anderson is the multi-tasking Happy Housewife and blogger. She brings real-life experiences to her blog to help other families manage their homes.

Despite everything she has to juggle everyday, she manages to take care of everyone in the family and build a successful blog and online business.

How does she do it? Well, that's what we find out in this episode.

Inside This Episode

I've been doing this blogging thing since 2008 and there's something I've noticed – there are people who look at their blogging as a business and those who don't.

My friend Toni is definitely one who is not just a blogger. She's a business owner, and everything she does online is done from that standpoint. So I brought her on here to share tips on how to go from blogger to business owner. Here are some of the things she covers:

  • How to create your brand
  • The importance of writing
  • How to create a workable plan for your blog
  • How to make money with your blog
  • When you should start thinking about making money
  • The right way to network with others and build relationships in your space
  • Evaluating your progress
  • Much more . . .

If you're in the Become A Blogger community, you are most likely interested in not just doing something that will have an impact on the world, but also building your business around helping others.

If that's the case, you're gonna love this interview.

So go ahead and check it out and then leave us a comment below.

  1. Hi Toni,
Thank you for sharing your business info with us.
During your interview you mentioned your assistant. When did you realize you needed one and how did you find her?
It looks like you have direct advertising on your site. How did you determine what to charge for your direct advertising? And at what point in the process did you go from hobby legal business structure?

  2. Thanks Toni, the way you have described your planning strategy is really very impressive one…so one thing I got in mind if you want to earn money…then at that instant moment start building your network and once you have started building your network..your plan will also automatically go live…so these were some great tips to follow…heads up Leslie…for sharing this interview with us…(Y)

  3. This is hands down the BEST interview you have ever had. It confirms everything I already knew and I AGREE with everything (never happens), Toni, Thanks so much, I am going to refer anyone who asks me about blogging for a career to this, it is a mirror of the same things I have been saying for years and will continue to say. So simple, yet so few seem to get it.

  4. I think housewives making use of their time by making money blogging is great you get to be there for the kids and build a business for yourself. I just wish men could do it more easy too.

    1. I don’t think it’s easier for women than it is for men. Building any business takes hard work and sacrifice. Not easier for housewives than it is for the rest of us. They have serious jobs at home 🙂
